Wicked Should Repent, Not Die

Apparently a supporter of fascism who trafficked in inflammatory antisemitic conspiracy theories, on the one hand, and was a staunch defender of one of the worst Israeli prime ministers in history, on the other hand, was shot at a public event where he was given a free platform to peddle his calls for violence against minorities.

The government says they have the shooter in custody but I don’t trust the American government anymore 🤷

So who knows who shot this man and why, or how his death will be weaponized against American dissidents.

But yes, murder is bad, guys.

The wicked should repent and live, not die in their wickedness.

Statement on the Discourse of Genocide

Statement on the Tiktok Discourse of Genocide in Gaza

The Mt. Zion Bureau of Public Affairs affirms the responsibility of every sovereign state, including Israel, to conduct military operations in accordance with international humanitarian law. We recognize that the current war in Gaza has caused profound suffering and immense civilian loss of life. Allegations of war crimes—including disproportionate use of force, attacks in densely populated areas, and restrictions on humanitarian aid—must be addressed with seriousness and transparency. We call for rigorous review and accountability where violations may have occurred.

At the same time, we categorically reject the accusation that Israel is engaged in genocide against the Palestinian people. Genocide, as defined by the 1948 UN Convention, requires intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. Israel’s stated and operational objective is the destruction of Hamas as a terrorist organization responsible for the October 7 massacres, kidnappings, and continued rocket attacks on Israeli civilians. The tragic civilian toll of this war reflects the brutal reality of combat against an enemy deliberately embedded in civilian areas—not an exterminatory policy against Palestinians as a people.

We further note that Israel remains home to nearly two million Arab citizens who participate fully in the civic, political, and social life of the state. Their continued security and integration stand in stark contradiction to claims of genocidal intent. Where inflammatory rhetoric by individuals has strayed into language suggestive of extermination, such speech has been condemned within Israel’s political and legal system and does not reflect state policy.

The charge of genocide is not simply a legal question. It carries with it a historical echo. For centuries, Jews have endured false collective accusations—blood libels, deicide, dual loyalty—meant to strip them of legitimacy and justify violence against them. To misapply the label of genocide to Israel’s self-defense risks repeating this pattern: collapsing the distinction between the Israel Defense Forces, the State of Israel, and Jews worldwide, and recasting Jewish survival itself as a crime.

We therefore call upon the international community to distinguish between legitimate investigation of alleged violations of the laws of war and the politically weaponized discourse of genocide. The former is essential for the integrity of international law. The latter undermines it.

Israel will continue to defend its citizens against genocidal threats, as it has since its founding, while striving to uphold the standards of law and morality upon which its legitimacy rests.

Living Under Unfair Conditions

Being Jewish in an unredeemed world means living under essentially unfair conditions stacked against you, where you are the least understood yet the most well-known in the international room. Where a magnifying glass is held to your every deed solely because you insist on your difference, and where your own perspective is neither acknowledged nor relevant to onlookers whose own self-understanding is abysmal at best and who are subject to continuous mass indoctrination and conditioning programs throughout their daily lives. This is not a complaint: we have enough of those. It is a call to recognize the facts of life in the spiritual desert that is this world order, and to build a better world in spite of them.

MechaHitler Got a New Gig

Oh look MechaHitler got a new gig!

“Driving the news: xAI said Monday that it secured the new contract with the Defense Department alongside its products being available to purchase.

“This allows every federal government department, agency, or office, to access xAI’s frontier AI products,” the company said.

Zoom in: Its flagship AI model, Grok, also launched a suite of products available to the U.S. government.

“Under the umbrella of Grok For Government, we will be bringing all of our world-class AI tools to federal, local, state, and national security customers,” the company said.”

Don’t Get Boiled Alive

There’s a famous experiment people like to bring up.

The story goes, some researchers decided to test animals’ sensitivity to a harmful environment. So they took some frogs and dumped them into a pot of boiling water. Surprise surprise – the frogs immediately jumped out.

But what the researchers did next is the punchline. Supposedly, they put frogs in a pot of regular water and slowly turned up the temperature. Instead of jumping out, the frogs boiled to death. The takeaway is obvious – animals (and by extension people) will act quickly to save themselves from an immediate threat, but will inure themselves to a threat introduced slowly over time.

Applied to political situations in democratic societies, the analogous message is equally clear: attack freedom too quickly and people will react strongly; steal it slowly over time and people won’t move a muscle.

But is that really the story of the frogs?

As it happens, there’s a crucial piece missing that’s not widely known. (Or at least, not as widely as the rest of the story.)

Those frogs that remained in the slowly heated water and boiled to death?

They were lobotomized first.

It turns out, no – animals (and by extension people) will not simply remain in an increasingly hostile and threatening situation until they expire (or are expired).

They will jump, they will flee, they will seek shelter and safety, and they will do everything they can to live.

Whether they’re dumped into a dangerous situation or whether it slowly creeps up around them.

Unless they’re lobotomized.

Lobotomies can be physical. Like the researchers did with the frogs, actual portions of the brain can be removed, leaving the organism non-responsive to its impending doom.

Those don’t happen often in democratic societies.

But lobotomies can also be psychological. The result of social pressures and cultural dynamics. The product of mass media technology and mass education curricula. The outcome of a misguided confrontation with ambiguity and difference for generations trapped in a web of myths, slogans, and soundbytes.

Until people no longer read books, they scroll screens.

They no longer have discussions, they watch reels.

They no longer ask questions, they follow crowds.

They no longer think, they just absorb and repeat.

Those kinds of lobotomies are much more insidious, and much harder to detect – you can hear it in someone’s words but you can’t spot it on a brain scan.

Those kinds of lobotomies happen often, even in democratic societies.

And when a person has been thus lobotomized, what they’ve lost isn’t a particular cortex but the faculty to critically observe and analyze and strategize. They’ve lost the ability to trust what they’re seeing, to analyze it against the rules of reason and experience, to plan to effectively escape it if need be.

They’ve lost their survival instincts as a rational animal, and they will remain in the pot while the water is slowly heated, and they will boil to death.

Less than a century after Mein Kampf, one of the world’s most popular AI’s created by one of the world’s richest (and most popular) men is going full MechaHitler and blaming the Jews for everything.

Less than a century after Kristallnacht, Jewish people and synagogues are being regularly attacked for collective crimes uniquely imputed to them as Jews.

Less than a century after Auschwitz, an authoritarian government is once again spending tens of billions of dollars building concentration camps.

The temperature of the water is rising, my friends.

Don’t get boiled alive.

I Prefer to Call Myself a Jew

“My language is [American English]. My culture, my attainments are [North Eastern American]. I considered myself [American] intellectually, until I noticed the growth of anti-Semitic prejudice in [the United States]. Since that time, I consider myself no longer a[n American]. I prefer to call myself a Jew.”

Truth be told, I noticed the trend towards racist fascism almost two decades ago, and the historical bigotry upon which that trend is built has been known to me since my youth. Antisemitism found fertile ground in the old prejudices of the New World.

But I feel you, Siggy.

When Somebody Tells You Who They Are

It amazes me that there are people who consider Israel the aggressor against Iran in this or any war.

The missile barrages did not start with the IAF’s bombing of nuclear and military sites, which itself did not occur in a vacuum.

The “pushy” “aggressive” Jew is a stereotype created by people who are uncomfortable with our noncompliance, our self-assertion, our unwillingness to accept the fate others have in store for us.

Now we have an air force and those same kinds of people are outraged that we have the temerity to take Khameini’s death threats at face value and accept the evidence of our eyes and ears.

Cyber Dust

Some antisemitic dude came to my profile overnight and laugh reacted to like twenty of my latest posts.

My brother in Moses, why so obsessed? 🧐

The passive aggression is a lil ridic.

We’re out here in Jerusalem building a better future for Palestinians and Israelis alike and antisemitic losers are sitting in their dorm rooms leaving the world nothing but ignorant comments and angry laugh reacts that will do nothing but gather cyber dust in the eventually deprecated databases of someday former social media giants.

Erasing Indigenous History

Erasing thousands of years of indigenous history, especially when it’s not at all necessary in order to support the human and civil rights of Palestinians or the integrity of their collective narrative, is not antifascist or decolonial.

It is antisemitic, both in what it says (that Jewish history is at worst literally nonexistent and at best an inferior historical artifact forever subordinate to the colonizer’s political and cultural claims) and in what it implies (that Jewish people are thieving liars not worthy of the basic human right to self-determination in all senses of the word).

American Antisemitism: Right and Left

I’m less interested in faulting the American Left as a general movement for the increase in attacks against American Jews than I am in understanding the government’s timeline for targeting Jewish citizens and in the question of whether the groups coalescing around antisemitism will drop their opposition to the government and support such state targeting of Jewish people.

There is a lot packed into this and I find neither the Right’s argument that the Left poses the greatest antisemitic threat to American Jewry nor the Left’s argument that Leftist antisemites are an exception to the rule, very persuasive.
