The longest thread in my writing is the Israelite story — Biblical, post-Biblical, Sephardic, scattered, returned. I read Tanakh closely and against the grain. I am persuaded that “Jewish” is a much later word for an older, larger people, and that telling that story differently changes what we owe each other now.
